We share our first COVID-19 Story of Hope. This one from U-turn, an NPO that assists people in overcoming homelessness.
Katlyn Sebatsane, is an American volunteer that is assisting at U-turn. When Katlyn was 12 years old in America, she wrote a research paper at school on South Africa an homelessness. Over a decade later she is volunteering with U-turn to assist the homeless in South Africa. She was volunteering at U-turn’s First Phase Service Centre for people still living on the street for months before Covid-19 and now she continues to assist, despite the risk.
Katlyn volunteers at the Service Centre in Claremont, facilitating Ignite group therapy sessions once a week. The rest of the week she helps in the soup kitchen and with upcycling fabric. As she says, “whatever needs to be done I am there to do it.” During the Covid-19 crisis more than 50 volunteers have stepped forward to assist U-turn and our NPO partners.
