NPO’s – the unsung Heroes

The NPO sector will be vital in getting our society back on its feet as the world continues to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic for years to come. The recovery phase is going to be much longer than originally anticipated. At the same time as experiencing an exponential increase in the need for their services, many NPOs are also seeing their funds decrease quite significantly. It’s up to all of us to stand in the gap for our NPOs and help them carry the load.

Supported by the Mergon Gap Fund, NOAH (Neighbourhood Old Age Homes) is just one example of an NPO that had to adapt fast during COVID-19. NOAH cares for hundreds of social pensioners in the Western Cape, helping them stay healthy, connected, and contributing to their families and communities.

The Gap Fund is set up as a distribution platform to financially aid these indispensable NPOs in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. To date, the Gap Fund has distributed more than 50 small grants to support NPOs in need.

Distributions from the Gap Fund are allocated through the Mergon Foundation. The Mergon Foundation has a long history of carefully selecting exceptional NPOs who have a track record of delivering essential services to communities in need. Partnership bases include South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa.
